The new QoS Suite V4.7 is available

After more than 8 months of Research & Development and field evaluation, we are providing our customers with our latest QoS Suite version which measures mobile networks in user experience and in “Robot” mode.

Robot mode allows you to increase the volume of measurements on Android and iOS mobiles, without human intervention, and the level of test automation through the use of technical Android phones, allowing the setting of different network configurations.

The main developments in user experience mode are :

  • For file download measurements, adding the server connection delay indicator in addition to the transfer delay indicator. This makes it possible to better analyze low flow rates in conditions of high latency and network congestion.
  • For latency measurements, the addition of a new standardized measurement using the TWAMP UDP protocol (the reference server uses the perfSONAR™ product), which allows better evaluation of 5G use cases (e-gaming and video chat HD) by calculating a global interactivity score (0 to 100%) perceived by the user.
  • For file download measurements, the evaluation of the http2 protocol (by comparison of several mobile phones and server configurations), the http3 protocol (under standardization) and the experimentation of a new network capacity measurement using the UDP protocol.

The main developments in robot mode make it possible to :

  • Carry out continuous measurements (24 hours), without human intervention on Android and iOS mobiles.
  • Configure different network configurations, from the QoS Suite Portal in the Android Root mobile measurement script, such as:
    - Turn airplane mode or mobile data on and off
    - Select an APN
    - Turn Wifi on and off
    - Force the rearrangement of a mobile
    - Select a network mode (5G, 4G, 3G and 2G)
    - Update the QoS Suite application without user intervention
    - Capture network exchanges.
  • Take captures of network exchanges on Android mobile, for analysis with standard tools such as Wireshark™. These captures can be configured in the QoS Suite Portal for each measurement in a script. QoS Suite drives the PCAPdroid™ application which saves captures in the standard “pcap” format. The quality of captures on a Root mobile is comparable to network analyzers on the market. Mobiles synchronize the captures with the Portal which allows the user to control them and download them for analysis. In order to avoid saturation of the system, an automatic capture purge mechanism is put in place.
